Quality Assessment Reviews (QAR)
Evaluate Your Conformance with the IIA’s IPPF
Internal Audit functions are required to maintain a Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (“QAIP”) regardless of size or industry of the organization, as mandated by the Institute of Internal Auditor’s (“IIA”) International Professional Practices Framework (“IPPF”). Further, the IIA requires that an external assessment be performed at least every five years to ensure conformance with the IIA’s standards.
At Clark Schaefer Consulting, we maintain the credentials and experience necessary to successfully execute external assessments. QAR projects are overseen by leadership at Clark Schaefer Consulting who hold active Certified Internal Auditor (“CIA”) licenses, and who have years of experience in providing QAR services.
Our team can provide both full external assessments or the independent component of self-assessments with independent external validation.
Our approach and methodology are simple:
Planning – Our team is committed to making fieldwork as painless as possible, which starts with effective planning. We will gather any preliminary items including document requests and gathering of key contacts prior to the start of fieldwork.
Fieldwork – During scheduled fieldwork, we will perform inquiries with key members of the audit function as well as other members of senior management. Additionally, we will inspect relevant audit function documentation as well as audit documentation to determine the degree of compliance with the IIA’s Quality Assurance guidelines and standards.
Reporting – Upon concluding the review, audit leadership will be provided with a Final Report which details whether the audit function generally conforms, partially conforms or does not conform with the IIA’s standards. An exit meeting will be held to formally discuss the results and address any desired changes.
